BABCP Accredited Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist

Therapy doesn’t have to feel clinical or intimidating. Sometimes you simply need a space where you can make sense of what’s happening, understand why you feel the way you do, and find practical ways to move forward.

I offer evidence-based Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) in a warm, collaborative and down-to-earth way. Whether you’re struggling with anxiety, low mood, difficult experiences, unhelpful patterns or simply feeling stuck, we’ll work together to understand what’s going on and identify meaningful changes that can make a difference to your everyday life.

About me

I’m a BABCP Accredited Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist with over 12 years’ experience working in mental health services across both adult and children and young people’s settings.

Alongside my private practice, I work as a High Intensity CBT Therapist within NHS Talking Therapies. My previous experience includes several years working within specialist children and young people’s mental health services, including both in-patient and community services.

I have a particular interest in neurodevelopmental differences, including ADHD and autism, and how these can interact with mental health and the way people experience and engage with therapy. I recognise that traditional approaches don’t always work for every brain, and I aim to adapt CBT thoughtfully to the individual rather than expecting the individual to fit the therapy.

Above all, I want the people I work with to feel comfortable, understood and able to be themselves in therapy.

My approach

CBT is practical and evidence-based, but good therapy is never one-size-fits-all.

My approach is collaborative, curious and compassionate. We’ll develop a shared understanding of the difficulties you’re experiencing, explore the patterns that may be keeping them going and work towards goals that are genuinely important to you.

Depending on what brings you to therapy, this might involve exploring thoughts and beliefs, changing patterns of behaviour, developing new ways of responding to difficult emotions, behavioural experiments, exposure-based work or making sense of the impact of previous experiences.

I believe therapy works best when you understand not only what we’re doing, but why we’re doing it. I’ll therefore be open and transparent about the CBT model we’re using and the rationale behind the work we do together.

Sessions are structured enough to help us make meaningful progress, while remaining flexible enough to respond to you as an individual.
