Counselling Psychologist
HCPC-registered Counselling Psychologist with over a decade of experience, specialising in distressing or traumatic relationship endings, including divorce, alongside anxiety, stress, trauma and difficult life experiences.
My name is Dr Anette Magnus, and I am an HCPC-registered Counselling Psychologist with over a decade of experience supporting people with a wide range of emotional and psychological difficulties.
I specialise in helping people navigate distressing or traumatic relationship endings, including breakups, separation and divorce. The end of an important relationship can leave us feeling overwhelmed, anxious, stuck, or questioning ourselves and our future. Whether you're in the middle of a relationship ending, struggling to move forward afterwards, or feeling unsure about the future of your relationship, therapy can provide a space to make sense of what has happened, regain clarity and begin moving forward.
Alongside this specialist area, I also work more broadly with anxiety, stress, trauma and difficult life experiences, relationship difficulties, low self-esteem and family issues.
My style as a therapist is warm but active, and I see therapy as a collaborative process. I take an active interest in understanding you, what brings you to therapy and what you hope to gain from our work together.
When it comes to therapy, my approach is that there is no “one size fits all”. Different people need different things at different times, and I therefore tailor therapy to your individual needs, aims and preferences.
My approach is integrative, drawing on different therapeutic approaches depending on what may be most helpful. At times, our work may involve practical changes, coping strategies or developing new ways of responding to difficulties. At other times, it may involve exploring lived experiences, relationships and recurring patterns, or processing painful experiences from the past.
Whatever brings you to therapy, we will work collaboratively to understand what is happening, what you would like to change and how therapy can best support you in moving forward.
