Counsellor / Talking Therapy

Hi, I'm Charlie. I am a qualified integrative counsellor offering weekly talking therapy both online and in person in Hackney. I have therapy rooms in Dalston Junction, E8 and Stoke Newington, N16.

There are times in life when we can all feel lost, stuck, overwhelmed, or weighed down by difficult emotions. If this resonates with you, I offer a warm, encouraging, and non-judgemental space where you can share thoughts and feelings that may feel difficult to express elsewhere.

I draw from different approaches depending on what feels most helpful for you. We’ll discover what that looks like together, with the understanding that a genuine, present human connection is at the heart of meaningful therapy.

About me

My practice is affirming of neurodivergence, gender, sexuality and relationship diversity. I aim to create a therapeutic practice that is inclusive and respectful of difference, and remain attentive to the ways difference may be experienced within the therapeutic relationship.

I am experienced in working with grief and loss, whether through bereavement, relationship break-ups, life transitions, or mourning the life you once imagined for yourself. I believe talking therapy can help us honour and process the past while making gentle steps towards the future.

Before retraining as a therapist, I worked within the wellness field. I am also a jeweller, tarot reader and music lover. This influences my open and curious approach to therapeutic work. I believe in the power of creativity, symbolism and the arts to move us and deepen our self-expression.

I appreciate the many ways we seek meaning, comfort and connection during times of struggle or transition. This might include our relationship with spirituality, nature or ‘the more-than-human world’. I welcome exploring the beliefs, practices and experiences that are important to you.

My approach

In the early sessions, I’m interested in getting to know you and understand what has shaped your experience. We may explore your family history, relationships and the events that have brought you to therapy. This is an opportunity to begin to slow down and tune in to yourself.

I’ll ask questions and offer honest reflections to help you make sense of you thoughts, feelings and behaviour patterns. We might explore your inner world through dreams, guided visualisations or parts work. I’ll encourage you to notice what is happening in your body to create space to connect with emotions.

Over time, we can begin to recognise the ways you have adapted to life's circumstances, honouring the strategies that once helped you while exploring new possibilities that feel more aligned with who you are now and how you want to live.

Location

18-22 Ashwin Street, London E8 3DL

Education

My diploma in Integrative Counselling is from The Minster Centre, where I am completing an Advanced Diploma in Psychotherapy. Here I was trained in a number of modalities including existential, person centred, psychodynamic and relational. A core part of my training focused on the body, intersectionality and working with trauma.

I have experience as a counsellor with the charity Mind and within a low-cost therapy service, supporting people from a wide range of backgrounds.
