Counselling Psychologist
Life can be messy, and when challenges come our way we can easily become overwhelmed. Sometimes we need a safe, confidential space to air out our thoughts to figure things out. If you are looking at my profile, it may be that you are experiencing some struggles. I use my warm and compassionate stance to help people feel at ease to explore mental health difficulties and life’s challenges to bring about meaningful change and encourage resilience.
I am a Counselling Psychologist, with four years of experience across different sectors, including working for a private practice company, NHS Scotland, higher education and in the third sector offering psychological support. I have a background working in supportive roles in in-patient services.
I currently work independently, offering individual online sessions with adults and young people (age 12+), with plans for an in-person space in the future. I appreciate that healing is not a linear process, and with this in mind, I offer open-ended sessions based on individual needs.
I accept self-funded clients as well as being registered with Aviva, AXA PPP, and Vitality insurance for clients who wish to pay through their insurance.
We are all unique. I believe that our contexts and past experiences come together to tell the story of who we are and the things that we struggle with. I believe that therapy should not be squeezed into a “one-size-fits-all” method. Therefore, I approach therapy integratively based on humanistic values and pluralistic philosophy. This means I draw from my training in different therapies including cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT), compassion-focused therapy and person-centred therapy (PCT) supported by experiential techniques.
To gain the most out of therapy, I would like you to feel comfortable and understood as we work towards your goals. This means that I take time to get to know you and your experiences at your pace. This helps to co-create a psychological formulation, and collaboratively determine a therapeutic plan which works for you.
I offer a free introductory 15-minute telephone call to answer any questions you may have about therapy, and discuss how I may be able to help. Please feel welcome to contact me to arrange this.
