Psychotherapy for an in-depth approach to insight, regulation and agency.

Open Mind Therapy offers thoughtful psychotherapy for adults who are used to functioning, coping, and holding things together, but feel strained inside.

You may appear capable in daily life while privately feeling anxious, depleted, emotionally numb, self-critical, or caught in familiar patterns that are difficult to change.

Therapy offers a calm, structured space to understand what is happening beneath the surface, regulate distress, and begin making clearer choices.

About me

I am Ricardo Dans, psychotherapist, founder of the Open Mind Method and director of Open Mind Therapy.
My work is suited to adults who want therapy that is reflective, clinically grounded, and more than surface-level advice. Many clients come to me because they want to understand the roots of their difficulties, not only manage the symptoms.

I work with anxiety, depression, burnout, trauma-informed concerns, emotional regulation, self-worth, relationship patterns, and the effects of earlier life experiences.
I offer therapy in a way that is calm, collaborative, and paced. The work can be short-term and focused, or open-ended where deeper therapy is clinically appropriate.

My approach

My approach is integrative and evidence-informed.
Primary approach: Psychodynamic / integrative / relational
Informed by: DBT-informed skills, somatic-informed awareness, trauma-informed practice
Framework: Open Mind Method — insight, regulation, agency
This means we can explore the past, understand emotional and relational patterns, notice how distress is held in the body, and develop more conscious ways of responding.

I use the Open Mind Method as an organising framework. It brings together three areas: insight, regulation, and agency.
The aim is not to rush towards simple answers, but to help you understand what has shaped you, what keeps certain patterns in place, and what kind of change is realistic, steady, and meaningful.
