Samantha Handley

psychotherapist

Hello, I'm Sam, I'm an accredited counsellor with the BACP and also work as a supervisor for other counsellors. I've studied in different areas of therapy as one side never fits all and I believe that the client needs therapy that is tailored to how they work and think.

About me

I wanted to become a therapist to be helpful, maybe a boring reason but I think a wonderfully boring one. I've been through therapy myself and I can see the purpose from both sides. I aim to be an open and honest therapist, I can offer a safe space, without judgement, but where you can also explore your issues and find a way forward. Either to talk things through and find an answer for yourself, or to explore your life so far, and your life still to come, I hope to offer you that space. Outside of the therapy room I write (completely unpublished!) books and draw badly. I may also build a little Lego from time to time.

My approach

I've been a counsellor for over 15 years now, working in a variety of ways and with many different issues. The most important part of therapy has always been that the client feels safe and heard in order to open up about what's going on for them. I aim to offer this in sessions and to walk with a client through whatever they need to explore.
