Integrative Psychotherapist
My practice as a therapist commenced in 2018 when I joined West Kent Mind as a volunteer counsellor, I am an now an Associate Counsellor, providing long term and short term therapy, with a commitment to providing intervention to clients who have experienced domestic abuse.
I work individually, with both adults and children. My work with adults involves an initial phone consultation, which is free and involves exploration of what you want to achieve in therapy. My work with children would involve a preliminary meeting with the parents, before meeting the child.
Therapy can take place in person in my counselling room which is located in central Tunbridge Wells, or by telephone or online. I follow the guidelines of the NHS and the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (my professional body) and have regular supervision to ensure the health and wellbeing of my clients and myself.
I am registered with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) and I am committed to protecting your personal data and collecting only necessary data, processing it in a fair, transparent and lawful manner, keeping it no longer than necessary and thereafter securely destroying it, as such I am compliant with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) 2018.
My approach is intercultural and being of Indian origin I speak Punjabi. I am forever curious, about meeting new people and learning about their unique cultural experiences. I believe in the power of ‘the self’ and I believe that every one has their own narrative and story to tell. Throughout life, my encounter with individuals has been informative. I believe that we hold the answers within ourselves. When we are going through difficulties in life, we can become overwhelmed, and at such times turning to therapy can help. Through counselling and psychotherapy, I provide a safe space for you to start your journey. My therapeutic approach is relational, I strongly believe that a good therapeutic outcomes are largely dependent on the quality of the relationship that the client and their therapist share.
I am an integrative counsellor and psychotherapist. My roots are in humanistic, psychodynamic, and person-centred theory. Working integratively enables me to tailor the therapy to individual needs which means I am able to draw from a range of therapeutic modalities. It is my intention to provide therapy that will assist you in reaching your goals. Based on the information that you provide and the specifics of your situation, we will work together to identify the most suitable approach for you. This is part of the therapeutic process itself. Together, we will periodically review and exchange feedback regarding the progress. This will also help us to think about the length of therapy, whether is short term or long term.
